Photographing the dancers of the Sacramento Ballet was always a challenge and a gift. I began with the company in 1996 when I wanted to photograph behind the scenes during the Nutcracker performances. From that point on I shot virtually every performance by the company until 2008 when I left California.
Along the way I met so many incredible artists/dancers/athletes. They certainly are all three. There have been so many that excelled. I can't in all fairness single out dancers because everyone was exceptionally great. The photos speak for their talent.
Ron Cunningham and Carinne Binda are masterful artistic directors who continue to bring out the best in each dancer in the company. They also gave me an opportunity to work on one of the best long-term projects of my career.
