The Louisville Burn Unit at Louisville General Hospital (KY) opened in 1984 and as of 1986 when these images were made was one of only two in Kentucky. The unit operates 24 hours a day with physicians and nurses providing intensive care for the patient who have suffered from the enormous trauma of burn injuries.
