FL HENRY LASANE DAUGHTER.JPG
The Amtrak Floridian passenger train that operated between Chicago, Illinois and Miami, Florida ceased operation in 1979. It was the last passenger train that serviced Louisville. Kentucky as well. These photographs document the final days for the workers in the Chicago Yards, the Amtrak employees aboard the train, an engineer,, W.C. Roddy, that drove the train between Louisville and Bowling Green, KY and the passengers who enjoyed riding the rails.
Pictured: Wildwood, Florida is the home for porter Henry LaSane, who is met by his wife and daughter, Poosie. LaSane has a few minutes with his family then must finish the train's run to Miami. He'll catch a train back to Wildwood for a few days off. For now, it's another goodbye kiss.
