A major fire at the Mitchell & Sons Truck Camper Company on 64th Ave. In Commerce City, CO, March 15, 1976. the fire destroyed most of the inventory in the warehouse. the company struggled to survive afterwards and eventually went out of business in 1980.
Bud Mitchell, the owner of the company was on site the night of the fire and tried to lend a hand holding firehoses. Bud Mitchell died July 1, 2011, "the camper king of Colorado."
