The Amtrak Floridian passenger train that operated between Chicago, Illinois and Miami, Florida ceased operation in 1979. It was the last passenger train that serviced Louisville. Kentucky as well. These photographs document the final days for the workers in the Chicago Yards, the Amtrak employees aboard the train, an engineer,, W.C. Roddy, that drove the train between Louisville and Bowling Green, KY and the passengers who enjoyed riding the rails.

Pictured: The most popular seats on the Floridian are in the domed observation car. the unreserved seats are usually fully occupied. The openness and extra light make the car ideal for passengers who want to see the passing landscapes, read or talk to other passengers.
