AUROLYN RUSH_MO'S KITCHEN.JPG
Need In the Midst of Plenty: Hunger in California, a project for the Sacramento Bee in 1986-87.
Aurolyn Rush had a secure life, husband and a home. She came to San Francisco with her three children, Darrell, Brandon and Tiffany to help and ailing aunt. Without reason the aunt kicked then out of the house, leaving them with nowhere to go. The family found temporary housing in the Apollo Hotel in the Tenderloin district. They share a small on room apartment with a shared kitchen. They have to take the bus to a nearby food kitchen at Glide Memorial Church. Aurolyn maintains her religious faith at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
