Lyle Alzado, a defensive end with the Denver Broncos, congratulates a competitor in a Special Olympics bowling event at Celebrity Sports Center in Denver, 1976. Alzado had a long career (1971-1985) in the National Football League. He died of brain cancer in 1992 and anabolic steroid use over the years may have been a major factor. He was one of the first professional athletes who admitted use of performance enhancing drugs.
