Standing where no one has for 30 years, Nicole Schmutz, from Salt Lake City, stands in awe of the Cathedral in the Desert formation inside Clear Creek Canyon, a side canyon in Lake Powell. Thought by many to be the most spectacular side canyon in the former Glen Canyon, it had a waterfall, lush vegetation and towering, curving walls that made one feel a spiritual presence was in the place. Because the lake level has dropped nearly 90 feet much of the side canyon is being exposed and now allows for small boats to enter the narrow passageway.
