Yosemite National Park Ranger Geoff Green surveys the area known as "Gates of the Valley," January 10, 1997 where a January 2, 1997 flood cut away an area of the parking turnout. The area is one of the most scenic viewpoints in the Valley and during the flood was under about 8 feet of water.
