The Amtrak Floridian passenger train that operated between Chicago, Illinois and Miami, Florida ceased operation in 1979. It was the last passenger train that serviced Louisville. Kentucky as well. These photographs document the final days for the workers in the Chicago Yards, the Amtrak employees aboard the train, an engineer,, W.C. Roddy, that drove the train between Louisville and Bowling Green, KY and the passengers who enjoyed riding the rails.

Pictured: Labyrinthine tracks weave in and out of the Chicago yards. May rail lines converge here, including many commuter trains. Switchmen route the trains to the service yards, then back to Union Station for passenger boarding.
