The Amtrak Floridian passenger train that operated between Chicago, Illinois and Miami, Florida ceased operation in 1979. It was the last passenger train that serviced Louisville. Kentucky as well. These photographs document the final days for the workers in the Chicago Yards, the Amtrak employees aboard the train, an engineer,, W.C. Roddy, that drove the train between Louisville and Bowling Green, KY and the passengers who enjoyed riding the rails.

Pictured: In the dining car, maitre d' Donald Mendez coaxes a laugh from 4-year-old Emily Stolt, sitting with her mother Margie. The Stolt family was on the away to Florida to visit Emily's grandmother and the train trip was an experience for Emily to remember.
