Heather Gibson competes in the 3000 meter steeplechase for the University of California/ Davis track team. This is the second year for this event to be contested at the Division 2 level and Gibson is currently ranked 2nd. Tuesday, April 30, 2002 she was practicing at Toomey field on the campus hurdling a barrier used in the event and also practicing going over a barrier into a sand pit instead of the water pit used in competition.
