Carleton Smith, a nine-year-old boy with Cerebral Palsy, is mainstreamed into his 4th grade class at Sun Valley Elementary School in Lakewood, CO. His classmates were
supportive and accepting of him and elected him as their class president. Carleton was one of the first CP victims to be treated with “neuromodulation” by Florida neurosurgeon, Dr. Ross Davis in 1976. The treatment involved placing a small pacemaker device in the back of Carleton’s brain. The results of the procedure were inconclusive.
