A double-diesel tanker was involved in a fiery crash on westbound US 50 at Howe Ave. in Sacramento, CA. September 12, 1995. 8,000 gallons of fuel were allowed to burn before fire crews could contain the fire and clear the debris, repair the highway and reopen the lanes to traffic. The accident caused major traffic interruptions throughout the area. The truck driver was able to escape and no other car drivers were injured.
