With Nixon embroiled in the growing Watergate scandal, Vice President Gerald Ford traveled the country speaking on behalf of the administration’s policies. One of his appearances was at Englewood High School, April 5, 1975. Ford remained an advocate and spokesman for the Republican Party, attending fundraisers and campaign events for Republican candidates. On August 9, 1974 he was sworn in as the President of the United States after Richard Nixon resigned the day before.
