MOTHER TERESA LOVING HAND
Mother Teresa, the Catholic nun who was leader of the Missionaries of Charity order, held a small child in her arms following a mass in Jenkins, KY, June 19, 1982. She came to the Appalachian community in southeast Kentucky to preside over the opening of first branch of the order in a rural American community. She also was honored for her lifelong work in a ceremony at Bellarmine College in Louisville, KY several days later. Pope John Paul II, during the celebration of his 25 years as leader of the world's Catholic religion, will likely beatify Mother Teresa.
