A special deer hunt in the Bernheim Forest was allowed by the Kentucky Department of Fish And Wildlife. Kentucky Governor Martha Layne Collins signed an emergency regulation for the hunt that would help reduce the overpopulated and undernourished herd 14,000 acre forest south of Louisville, KY. 1200 hunters were selected in a random drawing from more than 3,000 who applied. The hunt was held February 3-6, 1984.
