Henry Slamovich, San Francisco, 1994. He was one of the people who were on Schindler's List. Born in Poland in 1927 he was captured by other Nazis in 1940 and sent to a labor camp. He survived the ensuing years and eventually came to the United States in 1948. With his wife Miriam, he made a life. An teenaged intruder came into their home in 1978 and murdered Miriam, a survivor of the Bergen Belsen concentration camp. the killer was arrested six years after the crime and was sentenced to 56 months in prison, two fewer than Henry endured under the Third Reich.
