Ted Lee and his son Adrian, 3. Monday, May 21, 1997. Ted was weeding his small garlic garden in front of his home in Castella, south of Dunsmuir, CA where in 1991 a train derailment dumped weed killer into the river killing all life forms in the water. Lee was employed by SP and was called to the scene that morning after being assured that the area was safe, however, it wasn't and he and others in the crew were overcome by toxic fumes. Lee suffered brain damage and is now on permanent disability. He cares for his young son while hsi wife earns a degree in medical transcription. Sacramento Bee/Jay Mather
