Lexie Palmore pilots the Delta Queen steamboat down the Ohio River, June, 1977. She was the first female to become a riverboat pilot trainee, completing courses at the National River Academy in Helena, Arkansas. She began her interest in riverboating as a passenger on the Delta Queen, later becoming a cabin maid. She now pursues her life-long interest in painting from her home in Leadville, Colorado.
